Mrs. Julie Margolis was born in September 1968 in Santa Barbara, CA. She graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1986 after which she entered the work force initially in the restaurant industry, but then transitioned to hotel management while simultaneously completing course work towards completion of an Associate’s Degree. While working in several facets of the hotel/hospitality trade, she worked in San Luis Obispo, CA and Monterey, CA where in 2003 she met and married her Marine, Michael Margolis.

Ms. Margolis moved with her husband to Marine Corps Base (MCB) Quantico, VA in 2003 and in 2006 completed a Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies at the University of Mary Washington (Fredericksburg, VA). In 2006, she moved to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, Japan. While there, she completed three semesters of accelerated college level Japanese language courses. As Hotel General Manager/Consultant, she maintained financial reports, balanced an annual budget, managed human resources, inventory controls, and captured new business through new and innovative marketing practices.

As the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) General Stillwell Chapter President, she interacted with membership consisting of over 600 personnel to identify initiatives of critical importance to members. She worked on numerous family readiness events and Single Marine Program (SMP) events to increase readiness and morale. She interacted on a regular basis with the local Department of Defense (DoD) schools, base housing and installation headquarters in an effort to address concerns of families within her husband’s command.
